Standing Boy Trail Festival
The Standing Boy Trail Festival is held at the Standing Boy Trails in Columbus, GA, at 1701 Old River Rd. The event comprises multiple trail races on flowing single track that runs along the Chattahoochee River. Proceeds from the event benefit the Standing Boy Trail System.
The main loop is a 10 mile course that returns to the start and finish area each lap. Race formats listed for the event:
- Night Time Vertical 5K: out and back with about 400 feet of gain
- 10 mile race: one lap of the 10 mile loop
- Canicross 10 mile: runs on the opposing loop to reduce trail congestion
- 50K: three laps of the 10 mile loop
For the 50K, runners may set up a drop bag at the start and finish area. A fully stocked aid station will be available. A headlamp or light is required for the Night Time Vertical 5K.
Logistics note: parking requires prepayment unless the entrant has a year pass and parking capacity is limited. Time limits are published for the longer races; cutoffs include a 9.5 hour limit for the 50K and a 3.5 hour limit for the 10 mile race. The refund policy allows a full 100 percent refund until three months before the event; after that no refunds are issued.
Each race awards a unique medal. Additional participant items vary by distance and include an insulated cooler for 5K finishers, a beach towel for 10 mile finishers, and a shirt for 50K finishers. There is a raffle entry to win a Western States 100 spot for runners who finished the Bootlegger 100 and complete the Standing Boy 50K.
