Sorta Mountain Stage Race takes place on the Knobstone Trail near Borden, Indiana on September 13, 2026. Registration closes Friday, September 11 at 11:59 PM ET. Proceeds benefit the Suicide Awareness & Support SAM'S Foundation.

Distances offered include:

  • 5 Mile course on Knobstone Trail, turnaround at first aid station at mile 2.5.
  • Trail Half Marathon out and back to the summit of Round Top Knob.
  • 18 Mile Ultimate 18 out and back on Knobstone Trail including Jackson Trailhead.
  • 50K combines the Half and Ultimate 18 back to back; unique finisher medal.

The trail is single track and fairly rugged with rocks, roots and uneven terrain. The first four miles are undulating; beyond that the escarpments are steep with repeated elevation changes until the summit of Round Top Knob.

Aid stations are located at mile 2.5 at a trail intersection and at mile 5.3 at a road intersection. Aid stations will provide electrolyte drinks, water and some nutrition options. Overall awards will be presented and bonus prizes are provided by a sponsor. Food is provided for participants, family and volunteers.
