Lake Vista Lunatics Run

The Lake Vista Lunatics Run is scheduled for Nov 8, 2026 at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, IN (1217 Deam Lake Road). The event offers timed endurance options and a single-lap fun run: 6-hour and 12-hour endurance categories and a one-lap fun run.

Course, format and logistics

The marked loop is 4.167 miles (previously listed as 5k). The trail includes a summit with sections around 25% to 30% grade, a few creek crossings, rooty and rocky technical sections near the top, and a downhill on the far side. Runners complete the loop and return to the crew area/start line to refill water bottles and take nutrition between laps. Endurance entrants repeat the loop for their chosen duration (6 or 12 hours); fun runners complete one lap. Overall placing for endurance categories is based on the lowest total time and fastest pace with no missed laps. The event is not a last-man-standing format, and participants must start at designated times.

Participants are expected to bring their own hydration and nutrition; the organizer will have limited electrolytes and nutrition as backup. Registration is limited to fewer than 50 spots before waitlisting. A finisher medal is provided and there are prizes for top male and female endurance finishers; a Lake Vista baseball cap is included with registration.
