Lake Vista Lunatics Run
The Lake Vista Lunatics Run is an endurance event held at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, Indiana. The race features a looped course through one of Southern Indiana's trail segments. Each lap covers a distance of 4.167 miles, aligning with the specific "yard" distance often found in endurance formats.
Participants navigate a technical trail that includes creek crossings and sections with roots and rocks. The course includes a summit with a grade reaching between 25% and 30%, offering a viewpoint before descending the other side.
The event follows a timed structure where participants start a new lap at the top of each hour. To count towards the total, runners must start at the designated time; if a start is missed, the runner must wait until the 다음 hour to resume. Winners are determined based on the lowest total time for all laps completed without any misses.
Available distances include:
- 12 Hour endurance run
- 6 Hour endurance run
- 1 Lap Fun Run
The race is limited to fewer than 50 participants to manage traffic at the site. Registration includes a finisher medal and a baseball cap. Participants are expected to provide their own hydration and nutrition, though backup electrolytes are available. Top male and female finishers in the endurance categories receive prizes.
