Sombrero Sizzler is a loop-based timed running and rucking event held in Jacksonville, FL on the grounds of the former Cecil Field. The course uses a 1.25 mile paved loop made of approximately three quarters asphalt and one quarter concrete, with a short grassy section at the end and pine trees lining much of the route.

The loop is described as flat with minimal turns; there are five wide right turns per lap. Races take place over multiple timed durations, and a single main aid station is located at the start/finish pavilion.

Distances and formats:

  • 3 hours timed event
  • 6 hours timed event; relay option for four-person teams, any gender (limit 10 teams)
  • 9 hours timed event
  • 12 hours timed event

The aid station will offer standard ultra foods and Skratch Electrolyte for hydration. Food will be grilled throughout the day, including breakfast items, burgers (vegan options), brats, Italian sausage, and bacon. Each participant receives a custom medal; additional swag items are listed as TBD. Overall awards include overall top three in each event plus other special awards; team awards depend on participation.
