Event Overview

The Sombrero Sizzler is a timed running and rucking event on a 1.25-mile paved loop. The course is located at a former active military base, Cecil Field, and is described as pancake flat and fast.

Course Details

The loop consists of 3/4 asphalt road and 1/4 concrete walking path, with a short grassy section. The course is lined with pine trees, providing shade, though some parts are in direct sunlight later in the day.

Event Options

Participants can choose to run or ruck for 3, 6, 9, or 12 hours. For the 6-hour event, there is a 4-person relay team option, open to any gender combination, with a limit of 10 teams.

On-Site Facilities

One main aid station is located at the start/finish line in a pavilion area. It offers standard ultra foods, Skratch Electrolyte drink, and grilled food throughout the day, including breakfast items, burgers, vegan options, brats, and bacon. Parking is available on the road leading to the pavilion, directly on the course loop.

Awards and Participation Items

Overall top three finishers in each event and in the relay team divisions will receive awards. All participants, including relay team members, receive a custom medal. Other giveaway items are to be determined. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
