Sombrero Sizzler

Sombrero Sizzler is the third annual timed running and rucking event held at 5827 New World Road in Jacksonville, Florida, on the grounds of the former Cecil Field military base. Participants complete laps on a 1.25 mile paved loop that is three quarters asphalt and one quarter concrete walking path, with a short grassy section at the end. Pine trees line much of the course, providing shade during the morning hours, while some sections receive direct sun later in the day. The loop is flat with minimal turns.

Race formats are offered as timed events:

• 3 hours
• 6 hours
• 9 hours
• 12 hours

There is a relay team option for the 6 hour event for four person teams of any gender; team entries are limited to ten teams. Parking is available on the road leading into the pavilion area so vehicles pass by the course and set up areas are directly on the route. One main aid station will operate at the pavilion start/finish area offering standard ultra foods and Skratch Electrolyte. Grilled food will be available throughout the day, including breakfast items, burgers with vegan options, brats, Italian sausage, and bacon.

Overall awards will include top three overall in each event plus additional special awards and relay team awards. Each participant will receive a custom medal.
