Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run
The Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run is a 14-mile untimed point-to-point event in King George, Virginia, that benefits local children and other community causes. The route begins at the King George Middle School Sheetz and finishes at the Dahlgren Sheetz, with most of the course following the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail for about 12.6 miles after an initial 1.4-mile road section.
The trail is flat with minimal elevation changes and surfaces that include dirt, gravel, pea gravel, and occasional small rocks. Scenery along the way includes farmland, wetlands, and wooded sections. Aid stations are provided at the start and finish plus four on-course locations; offerings include pie, s’mores, Peeps, soft pretzel nuggets, fruit snacks, cereal bars, doughnuts, water, and an electrolyte drink (Dr. Raindrop). Restroom facilities are available at several aid locations.
The event operates as a cupless race. Each participant receives a HydraPak SpeedCup at the start and hydration is poured into reusable cups to reduce single-use waste. Shuttle buses run from the event parking area at King George Gateway Shopping Center to the start line; post-race parking is within walking distance of the finish or reachable by a courtesy shuttle.
Packet pickup is available at multiple locations in the days before the event and on race morning. Trained service animals are permitted; other dogs are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
