Route, pace and logistics

The route uses parts of the Serpent Trail and the Sussex Border Path, including a section toward Blackdown and the Temple of the Winds lookout with views of the South Downs. The course crosses fields, ancient woodland, rare heathland and valleys. The organiser describes the route as hilly. The run is led by an experienced ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide and coach who will manage the route and offer advice during the day. The event is run as a group rather than a race. Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to maintain an average pace of about 10 min/mile (6 min/km) for prolonged periods on trail. A full kit list will be provided. An alcohol-free beer from Athletic Brewing Company may be available at the end, subject to availability.
