Serpent Trail Ultra Run

Haslemere, United Kingdom • 23 Nov 2025

Event overview

The Serpent Trail Ultra Run is a guided 30-mile trail run that starts and finishes in Haslemere, Surrey. The event is organised as a group run rather than a race. Entry costs £45 per person. A car park is available at the meet location and the start is a short run or taxi ride from the local train station. Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to sustain an average pace of 10 min/mile (6 min/km) on trail for prolonged periods. A full kit list will be provided before the run. The run includes guidance from an experienced ultra runner who is also a mountain leader, qualified guide and coach.

Route and logistics

The route uses parts of the Serpent Trail and the Sussex Border Path. The outward route heads towards Blackdown and passes the Temple of the Winds lookout, which offers views of the South Downs. The course then follows the Serpent Trail south across fields and through ancient woodland, later continuing west across rare heathland, woodland and valleys. A refreshment break is planned before the return to Haslemere across further heathland and a variety of trails. The organiser notes that the route may be hilly and that first-time ultra runners are encouraged. A complimentary alcohol-free beer may be available at the finish, subject to availability.
