Course and logistics

The course is fully signed using fluorescent directional markers. Runners leave the athletics track and follow the South Downs Way. The 22km route climbs to Cheesefoot Head, continues over Fawley down toward Morestead for a circular loop, then returns down Cheesefoot Head onto MOD land at Deacons Hill. At that point both distances join the Pilgrims Trail, head toward St Catherines Hill, then follow the Itchen Way along the river back to the track.

Mandatory kit includes a headtorch or chest torch (a backup is advised) and at least 500 ml of fluid. Runners are advised to carry appropriate clothing for variable winter conditions and to download the GPX file for the route. Car parking is at East Winchester, Barfield Park & Ride, SO23 9PH and is free after 16:00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
