Big Night Out Winchester

Big Night Out Winchester is an evening trail running event that starts and finishes at Winchester Athletics Track, Bar End, Winchester. Runners follow fully marked trails and fluorescent directional markers across local routes including parts of the South Downs Way, Cheesefoot Head, Deacons Hill on MOD land, the Pilgrims Trail and the Itchen Way, passing near Fawley, Morestead and St Catherines Hill.

Two distance options are offered:

  • 22 km - £42
  • 12 km - £34

Participants must carry a headtorch or chest torch; a backup torch is advised. All runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid. Weather can be changeable in November, so appropriate clothing for conditions is recommended. The organiser also advises downloading the GPX file of the route onto a watch or mobile device because, although the course is marked, arrows can be tampered with.

Race facilities at the event include a registration tent for bib collection, a bag drop tent at the start/finish area, and an aid station on course. Car parking is at East Winchester, Barfield Park & Ride and is free after 16:00. Canicross entries are not accepted. A TreesNotTees option is available allowing runners to choose a tree planting instead of a finishers medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
