Sentinel Hill Climb - Missoula, MT

The Sentinel Hill Climb is a trail race on Mount Sentinel beginning at the ‘M’ trail parking lot on the University of Montana campus and finishing on the summit. The course gains approximately 1,970 feet in about 1.6 miles, following the ‘M’ trail for the first third and the Northwest ridge trail to the top.

Distances

  • 1.6 miles with 1,970 feet of climbing, finishes at Mount Sentinel summit
  • 0.6 miles kids run with 600 feet of climbing, finishes at the M then returns

The event is limited to 250 runners. Registration windows and fees are published for the lead-up to the race, with a higher fee on race day. There are no refunds, deferrals, or bib transfers. Chip timing is provided and participants receive Big Dipper ice cream and finish-line nutrition products from a sponsor.

Awards include cash prizes for the first place male and female who start in the elite wave, a premium for the first male and female to the M, and age group gift cards. Top overall places are determined by gun time. Parking at the M trail lot is limited and surrounding lots may require a university parking pass.
