Pengelly Double Dip & Bob Hayes Single Dip

Pengelly Double Dip and Bob Hayes Single Dip are two organized race options hosted by Run Wild Missoula on June 7, 2026, starting and finishing near the UM/Van Buren footbridge at River Bowl East. Both courses prohibit strollers and dogs, and the event is cupless so participants must carry their own hydration. Aid stations are provided: three on the Double Dip course and one on the Single Dip course.

Distances:

  • Pengelly Double Dip : half marathon plus, 3,400 ft elevation gain
  • Bob Hayes Single Dip : 10K with a steep first mile

In-person registration is tiered by date and each event has a participant cap: Pengelly is limited to 200 entrants; Bob Hayes is limited to 150 entrants. Virtual options are available for both races with smaller participant caps. Virtual participants may run the course between mid-May and late June, submit recorded results, and do not receive a race bib.

Race logistics include bib pickup at the Run Wild Missoula headquarters the Friday before the event; virtual entrants do not receive bibs. Post-race offerings for in-person participants include pizza, assisted stretch therapy, beverages, and a finish-line gathering. Awards recognize top overall finishers by female, male, and non-binary categories; Pengelly also honors masters 40+ and legends 50+ winners. A portion of proceeds supports Friends of the M Trail for trail repair and erosion control. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
