SCD Community Fun Run 10k/5k

The event is a community fun run held in Tomatin, Inverness, organised by Strathdearn Community Developments. There are two distances available:

  • 10 km
  • 5 km

Both courses start at The Strathdearn hall and follow local roads and paths. The 5k route goes down the shop brae, over a wooden bridge, turns left onto a track to the first water station and returns along the same track. The 10k follows the same initial section, continues past the green tin church to the end of the road near Balvraid Estate, completes a loop following course arrows and returns towards The Strathdearn for the finish.

The route is described as trail with an undulating profile and includes rural roads and hilly paths; it is not suitable for wheelchairs. There will be two to three water stations and distance markers along the course. Changing facilities and showers are available at the race HQ; there are no toilets and no baggage storage. First aid kits will be present.

Entry is limited to 100 places with 25 places left at the time of listing. Entry on the day is not available. Registration on race day is at The Strathdearn from 10:30 where registered entrants are issued race numbers. Minimum age is 4; anyone under 10 must be accompanied by an adult on open roads. Headphones are not permitted in line with UK Athletics rules. Each finisher receives a medal and trophies are awarded for the fastest 10k and 5k adult and child categories.
