SCD Community Fun Run 10k/5k

The event is a community fun run in Tomatin, Inverness, organised by Strathdearn Community Developments to raise funds for MND Scotland. Distances available are:

  • 5k
  • 10k

Both routes start at The Strathdearn (the hall) and follow local roads and tracks. The 5k route runs down the shop brae, over the wooden bridge, then left along a track to the first water station and returns by the same track. The 10k route follows the same initial section, continues past the green tin church to the end of the road at Balvraid Estate, completes a loop and returns toward The Strathdearn for the finish. The course surface is mainly rural roads and hilly paths; the profile is described as undulating and it is not suitable for wheelchairs.

There will be two to three water stations and distance markers along the course. Facilities at the race headquarters include changing facilities and showers; there are no toilets and no baggage store. First aid kits will be available. Each finisher receives a medal; trophies are awarded for fastest 10k adult, fastest 10k child, fastest 5k adult and fastest 5k child. Minimum age is 4; children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult on open roads. Headphones are not permitted in accordance with UK Athletic rules.
