Forres, United Kingdom • 27 Jun 2026

Moray Way Relay Race

The Moray Way Relay is a team relay covering about 100 miles around the Moray Way route. The course starts and finishes in Forres and follows the Moray Coastal Trail to Spey Bay, the Speyside Way to Grantown-on-Spey, then returns to Forres via the Dava Way. The route includes forests, coastline trails, hills and sandy beaches. The course is divided into 12 sections with fixed handover checkpoints and GPX files are provided for the full route.

Teams are up to four people but may have fewer members who take more legs. Each runner must complete at least three legs. Entry is limited to 30 teams and there is a 24 hour cutoff for the full distance. The event requires participants to be over 16 and to be able to run a minimum distance (stated as 18 km across assigned legs) within the cutoff. A tracker device is used as the baton for handovers.

Format, categories and logistics

Categories are All Men, All Women and Mixed (at least two women). Divisions include Open (at least one member under 40), Masters (all over 40), Corporate and Military/Public Service. Organisers provide fuel, water and medical cover at checkpoints. Some running will be in darkness and headtorches may be needed; handovers are designed so teams can use up to four vehicles to move between checkpoints. Volunteers are required to support marshalling, catering and other race tasks. The entire team may optionally run the final leg together.
