The Dashing Dog Charity Run - North

The event is a 7 hour Time Challenge held on signed trail loops along the River Wear in Durham. It takes place on Sunday 12 April 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The course runs beside the river with views of the Cathedral and requires no navigational experience.

Distances and lap structure:

• Minimum distance 3 km.
• Full lap approximately 7 km or 4.37 miles.
• Course may change to a 3.28 mile loop.
• Half marathon equals 3 laps.
• Marathon equals 6 laps; ultra is 7 or more laps.
• A 50 km option is available.

Entry and charity fundraising are integral to the event. A £2 surcharge is added to every race and is donated in full to local dog rehoming charities. An optional £3 pin donation is available and will be matched by the organiser so each pin yields £6 to charities. For entry-only participants, 10% of organiser profits from the race are donated.

Finishers completing at least 3 km receive a dog-themed medal. Distance pins are awarded from half-marathon distance upward. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option. Aid and drinks tables are available each lap. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. Bag drop is unstaffed and items are left at the participant’s risk. Pay and display parking is available nearby and parking at the rowing club is not permitted. Headphones are allowed.
