Swainby Sweep

Swainby Sweep is a pair of circular trail races held in the North York Moors National Park, with race headquarters at Swainby Village Hall, Swainby DL6 3EG. The routes pass Cod Beck and Oak Dale Reservoirs, Scarth Wood, Whorlton Moors and Black Hambleton.

Terrain is varied and includes exposed uplands, rugged sections and muddy forest tracks. The course is predominantly on bridleways and footpaths with small sections on minor road. The event provides marked courses, route descriptions and downloadable GPS files.

Logistics include feed stations and water, regular checkpoints, marshals on the route, medical provision by AED Medical Ltd and car parking. Participants receive a goodie bag including a race medal. Trophies are awarded for male and female first to third overall and first to third in each age group. Minimum age for entry is 18.

A small donation to the North York Moors National Park and to Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team is included in each entry fee. Technical t-shirts are offered as an optional extra at £12; to guarantee a shirt an order must be placed by 20 March. Running with dogs is not permitted due to livestock and relevant rules.
