Event Overview

The Swainby Sweep is a pair of circular trail races held in the North York Moors National Park. The event offers two distances: a 16-mile and a 7-mile race, both starting from Swainby Village Hall. A donation to the North York Moors National Park and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team is included in each entry fee.

The Course

The route takes in varied terrain, including exposed and rugged uplands, muddy forest tracks, and small sections of minor road. Runners will pass landmarks such as Cod Beck Reservoir, Oak Dale Reservoir, Scarth Wood, Whorlton Moors, and Black Hambleton. The course is primarily on bridleways and footpaths, with sections along the Cleveland Way.

Event Information

The course is fully marked, with marshals, regular checkpoints, and water/feed stations. Medical provision is provided by a third-party company. Participants receive a goodie bag containing a race medal. Trophies are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three in each age group.
