Swainby Sweep

Swainby Sweep is a pair of circular trail races held on 19 April 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. Race headquarters is Swainby Village Hall, Swainby, DL6 3EG.

The courses take in moorland and forest tracks, sections of the Cleveland Way, bridleways and footpaths, and short stretches on minor roads. Terrain includes exposed uplands and muddy forest tracks with views toward Cod Beck and Oak Dale Reservoirs, Scarth Wood and Whorlton Moors, and Black Hambleton.

The event uses marked courses with marshals on route, water and feed stations, regular checkpoints, and downloadable GPS routes and route descriptions. Medical provision is supplied by AED Medical Ltd. Facilities include car parking and a goodie bag that includes a race medal. Trophies are awarded to male and female 1st to 3rd overall and to 1st to 3rd in each age group.

Entries are open between 27 July 2025 and 14 April 2026. Minimum age is 18 or older. Entry fees vary by distance and affiliation: affiliated 16 miles £33, unaffiliated 16 miles £35, affiliated 7 miles £23, unaffiliated 7 miles £25. A small donation to the North York Moors National Park and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team is included in each entry fee. Running with dogs is not permitted.
