Sunderland Strollers Pier to Pier Race 2026

The event takes place on 19 April 2026 in Sunderland and is a point to point coastal race that covers approximately 7 miles. The course starts on the beach at South Shields Pier, follows cliff paths past Marsden Rock and Souter Lighthouse, rejoins the beach at Whitburn and finishes at Roker Pier in Sunderland.

Runners must keep away from public highways unless directed by a race marshal; failure to follow marshal directions may result in disqualification. In accordance with UK Athletics rules, headphones are not permitted; bone conducting devices are allowed. There is a water point at Souter Lighthouse and a two hour cut off finish time.

Entry details are set for the 2026 race: entries open at 12pm on 2 February and close on 1 April or when sold out. Fees are £29 for UKA registered runners and £31 for non registered runners. Race number transfers are available until 12pm on 18 April. Transport from Roker to South Shields is available for £4 on a first come first served basis; there is no transport provided after the race. No refunds or deferrals are offered if an entrant cannot participate or if the event is cancelled.
