BEYOND NEWCASTLE 2027

Beyond Newcastle is a city based trail event from Wild Deer Events that uses the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne as its base, with the start beneath the Swing Bridge and assembly at Guild Hall Car Park.

Distances offered

  • 55 km Ultra
  • 25 km Trail run

Both routes are waymarked and supported with marshals and feed stations. The 55 km route follows the River Tyne to Wylam, returns via Derwenthaugh Marina, continues along the River Derwent through High Spen, Chopwell Woods and Lintzford, drops into the Derwent Valley, follows the Derwent Walk and re joins the River Tyne for the final section back to the Swing Bridge on the Newcastle side. The 25 km route follows a shorter scenic route along the river and trails.

The 55 km course has three feed stations located at roughly 10, 20 and 26 miles; the 25 km course has one feed station around 8 miles. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. Runners are expected to carry essential kit including a running backpack or vest, fluids, a charged mobile phone with emergency contacts saved, some food or gels, and a lightweight jacket. There is a safety cut off and runners who do not reach the final checkpoint by the designated time will not be allowed to continue. All finishers receive an event medal, Beyond merchandise and a snack and drink. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
