Beyond Newcastle takes place on 25 April 2026 with a city-centre start and finish at the Swing Bridge (West Path) on Newcastle Quayside. The event offers two route options and provides chip timing, fully signed routes with GPX files, feed stations, medical support and a finishers' medal. Routes and logistics

  • 55 km Ultra (course listed as 56.6 km)
    The route follows the River Tyne to Wylam, crosses the Tyne, runs past Derwenthaugh Marina, follows the River Derwent, passes High Spen, goes through Chopwell Woods and Lintzford, drops into the Derwent Valley, follows the Derwent Walk back to the Tyne, and returns along the river to finish at the Swing Bridge. There are three feed stations: Wylam Car Park (approx. 15 km) and an out-and-back feed station on the Derwent Walk (around 32 km and 44 km). There are cut-off points on the route at about 33 km and 44 km; participants who do not pass these points will not be permitted to continue.

  • 25 km Trail (course listed as 26.0 km)
    The route starts and finishes at the Swing Bridge, runs along the River Tyne, crosses Scotswood Bridge, loops Derwent Walk Country Park and returns along the Derwent to rejoin the Tyne. There is one shared feed station on the Derwent Walk at about 13 km. Participants must meet event cut-off requirements to receive a recorded time and medal.

Both routes mix footpaths, parks, woodland trails, riverside paths and disused railway lines. The 55 km route is about 73% paved and 27% unpaved; the 25 km route is about 74% paved and 26% unpaved.
