Event Format
The Fraggle Run - North is a seven-hour time challenge event where participants choose their own distance. The minimum required distance to become an official finisher is 3 km. A full lap is approximately 4.37 miles (7 km), subject to change to a 3.28-mile loop based on course conditions. Within each lap, there are 3 km and 5 km turn points to accommodate younger runners.
Distances can be achieved by completing a certain number of laps:
- Three laps for a half marathon.
- Six laps for a marathon.
- Seven or more laps for an ultra marathon. A specific 50 km distance is also available.
Course & Location
The event takes place at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club in Durham. The course follows a trail along the River Wear, offering views of Durham Cathedral. The route is fully signed, requiring no navigation experience.
Participant Information
The event welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities. Headphones are permitted during the run. Participants are asked to be considerate of other users as the event uses public footpaths.
Facilities & Logistics
Toilets and changing facilities are available at the race headquarters. A bag drop area is provided near the start/finish, but it is not staffed or secure, so valuables should not be left. There is nearby free on-street parking as well as pay-and-display city centre parking.
Race numbers are collected on the day at registration. Final instructions are emailed to participants 7-10 days before the event.
Awards & Provisions
All finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Additional distance pins for half marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km, and ultra distances are available for those who achieve them. One pin is attached to the medal ribbon.
An aid station at the start/finish area of each lap offers a selection of drinks, savory snacks, and sweet treats, including vegan options. All finishers also receive a goody bag, with a standard and a vegan option available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
