The Rise From The Ashes Run - North takes place on 18 January 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The event is a 7-hour time challenge held on a signed trail course along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. Headphones are allowed and the route uses public footpaths; runners should be considerate of other path users.

Distances, results and prizes

  • Minimum: 3 km (turn point within the lap)
  • Full lap: 4.37 miles / 7 km (may change to a 3.28 mile loop)
  • Half marathon: 3 laps
  • Marathon: 6 laps
  • Ultra: 7 or more laps; 50 km distance available

Finishers who complete at least 3 km are official finishers and receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances and are attached to the medal ribbon.

Facilities and race services

Number pick up is on the day at race registration. Toilets and changing facilities are available at race HQ. A bag drop is provided near the start/finish but it is unstaffed and left at the participant's own risk. An aid and drinks table at the start/finish of each lap supplies drinks and snacks (examples include crisps, cheese, fruit and cookies) with vegan options. Free on-street parking is nearby and city centre pay-and-display parking is available. A reduced entry price of £17.00 is available to members.
