A Christmas Carol Bobble Hat Run - North is scheduled for 14 December 2025 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The event is a 7 hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose how far they run within the time limit. Bobble hat entries are sold out; entries from 6 November are for the run entry and include a buff. Finishers who complete at least 5 km receive a themed medal and a running buff. The advertised £22.00 entry price is available only to members; members are noted as guaranteed entry and receive a mini-me medal pin at each event they attend.

Course, facilities and services

The course follows a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. The route is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. Walkers may take part.

There are toilets and changing facilities at race headquarters. A bag drop is provided near the start and finish but it is not staffed and items are left at the participant's risk. Parking options include nearby free on-street parking or pay and display city centre parking. An aid table and drinks table are available at the start/finish of each lap with drinks and snacks, including vegan options. Explore Wilton Woods and Lazenby Bank East at a regional orienteering event on Sunday 25 January 2026. Varied courses for all abilities, car sharing encouraged, and a few on the day entries may be available subject to map availability.

Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn features scenic but rugged circular trails of 28, 14.5 and 7.5 miles along the North York Moors coast with big climbs and sea views. Bring maps and mandatory kit and finishers get a medal.

Take on the Cod Beck Canter on Sun 1 Feb 2026 in the North York Moors: a 16.5 km moorland route with 573 m of climb from Ingleby Cross Village Hall. Entry on the day, minimum age 18, promises tough terrain and great views.
