Saturn 7 Hour Time Challenge - Gilesgate
Gilesgate, United Kingdom • 12 Apr 2026
Event Format
This is a 7 hour timed event where participants can choose their own distance. The minimum distance to be an official finisher is 3 km. A full lap is approximately 4.37 miles (7 km), though this could change to a 3.28-mile loop depending on course conditions. Participants can run as many laps as they wish within the time limit. The course is classified as a trail run.
Course and Location
The event takes place in Durham, starting and finishing at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club. The route follows a stretch of the River Wear, offering views of the cathedral. The path is fully signed, so no navigation experience is required.
Charity Cause
The event raises funds for local dog rehoming centres. A £2.00 surcharge is added to every race entry, with 100% of that fee going to the charities. For an optional £3.00 donation, participants can receive a dog-themed pin for their medal ribbon; the organiser will match this donation. A portion of the event's profits will also be donated.
