North Tyneside Trail Run (4 January 2026)

The event is a multi-terrain trail run in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, organised by North Shields Polytechnic. The advertised distance is 12 kilometres, described as approximate and sometimes adjusted. The course starts on the beach at Watts Slope and finishes with a partial lap of the running track at Churchill Playing Fields. The route includes the beach at Whitley Bay, clifftops and coastal paths to Seaton Sluice, trails and mud through Holywell Dene, and sections along the Waggonways. All competitors will run across the beach. The profile is undulating and the race is a single lap.

Logistics and facilities

Race HQ is at the North Shields Poly clubhouse at Churchill Playing Fields. Facilities listed include toilets, changing facilities and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers. The event notes that it is not suitable for wheelchairs. Numbers are to be collected on the day from 8:30am. The entry limit is 550, with 80 places remaining at the time of listing. Entry on the day is not available. Entry fees are shown as £23.00 for affiliated runners and £26.00 for unaffiliated runners. There are no refunds and name changes are permitted free of charge via Racebest. The finish area will offer hot and cold drinks and a selection of baked goods for sale.
