Course and race format

The route starts on the beach at Watts Slope and finishes with a partial lap of the running track at Churchill Playing Fields. The route passes the beach at Whitley Bay, clifftops and coastal paths toward Seaton Sluice, through Holywell Dene trails and mud, and along the Waggonways. All competitors run across the beach; there are optional choices over two hills in Holywell Dene. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Race HQ at North Shields Poly provides toilets, changing facilities and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers.
