North Tyneside Trail 12km

The North Tyneside Trail Run is an approximately 12 kilometre multi-terrain event around Whitley Bay and North Tyneside. The course starts on the beach at Watts Slope and finishes with a partial lap of the running track at Churchill Playing Fields. The route passes the Whitley Bay beach, clifftops and coastal paths to Seaton Sluice, the trails and mud of Holywell Dene, and sections of the Waggonways. The exact distance can be adjusted slightly from year to year.

Race headquarters are at North Shields Polytechnic clubhouse, Churchill Playing Fields, Hartley Avenue, Whitley Bay NE26 3NS. The race start is a short walk down to the seafront at the War Memorial at Spanish City; the finish returns to the Clubhouse. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets, changing rooms and a baggage store. There are no water stations, no distance markers and no showers on course. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Entry is limited to 600 places; remaining places were noted as 17. Entry fees are shown as Affiliated £23.00 and Unaffiliated £26.00; entry on the day is not available. The organiser states there are no refunds; name changes are permitted via Racebest. Finisher items for this edition are buffs rather than medals.
