Runners-Next-the-Sea 5-Mile Beach Run

Holkham beach, United Kingdom • 11 Jan 2026

Event overview

The Runners-next-the-Sea 5-mile Beach Run takes place on 11/01/2026 at Holkham Beach. This is the fourth running of the event. The course is approximately 5 miles and is entirely on the beach. The route runs behind sand dunes towards Burnham Overy Staithe, crosses a dune, then continues east along the open beach for about two miles, crossing a shallow channel before returning to the finish. The final route will be confirmed with the nature reserve team to avoid nesting sites and dune work. The minimum age for entry is 16. Chip timing and immediate results are provided.

Logistics and entries

The start and finish are on Holkham Beach close to the boardwalk that links the Lady Anne’s Drive car park and the beach. Registration is at The Lookout Café at the beach end of Lady Anne’s Drive and race numbers include a chip timing tag; runners should bring safety pins. Car parking is available at Lady Anne’s Drive car park (Ordnance Survey TF892445); a 2025 parking charge of £3.60 allows parking until 12:00 on the day when the ticket and a free extension ticket from a car park marshal are displayed. Two other car parks are available in Holkham village across the A149. Entry is limited to 250 places; an event waiting list and number transfers are operated via the timing provider. First aid will be available. Awards are given for First Male and First Female, and every finisher receives a memento. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
