Runners-Next-the-Sea 5-Mile Beach Run

Holkham beach, United Kingdom • 11 Jan 2026

Event overview

The Runners-next-the-Sea 5-mile Beach Race is scheduled for 11 January 2026 at Holkham Beach. The event is the fourth running of this approximately 5 mile beach race. Chip timing and immediate results will be provided by Total Race Timing. The minimum age for entry is 16. Entry is limited to 250 runners and a waiting list will open when the limit is reached.

Course and logistics

The route is entirely on Holkham Beach and crosses the National Nature Reserve. The course starts and finishes on the beach near the boardwalk that links the Lady Anne’s Drive car park and the beach. The route heads west behind the sand dunes towards Burnham Overy Staithe, crosses the dunes and runs east along the open beach for about two miles (including a shallow channel) before returning to the finish. The final route will be confirmed with the nature reserve team to avoid nesting sites or dune work.

There will be marshals along the route and the course will be clearly marked. Runners are asked not to wear headphones so they can hear marshals. Littering on the course will result in disqualification. Dogs and pushchairs are not permitted on the course. A first aid provider will be present.

Practical information

Registration is at the Lookout Café at the Beach End of Lady Anne’s Drive. Parking is available at Lady Anne’s Drive car park (Ordnance Survey grid TF892445; three-word address overjoyed.archive.group) with a 2025 parking charge of £3.60. Transfers to another runner are allowed up to seven days before the race; a waiting list and refund process are operated by the timing provider.
