Event Overview
The Ruck a Chuck 50K is a trail running event on the Western States Trail near Foresthill, California. The course is an out-and-back route starting at the Drivers Flat staging area and heading towards Foresthill. The route covers dense forests, rivers, and rolling hills within the American River Canyon.
Course Details
The course is a 50K distance with over 6,500 feet of positive elevation gain. It passes through extremely remote areas. There are three physical aid station locations that runners pass twice, for a total of five aid stops. The aid stations provide items like bananas, oranges, potato chips, gels, soda, and electrolyte drinks.
Logistics
The start is at Drivers Flat. Parking is located off Foresthill Road, approximately half a mile from the start. A shuttle operates between this parking area and the start before and after the race. Parking requires a California State Parks Poppy Pass or a daily fee. The event is cupless; runners must provide their own reusable cup or bottle.
Important Notes
Cut-off times are enforced at aid stations. Runners who drop out or miss a cut-off at an aid station must wait there until the station closes to receive transport back.
