Round Ripon Ultra

The Round Ripon Ultra is a 35 mile circular trail run that starts and finishes in Studley Roger, North Yorkshire. The undulating route follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel and passes through trail, woodland and moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The final section runs downhill through Studley Royal deer park back into Studley Roger.

Facilities at the Race Headquarters in Studley Roger Village Hall include free tea and coffee and toilet facilities. The route has four staffed checkpoints with water, sweets and cake; CP3 also has savouries and toilet facilities. Progressive cut off points apply along the course and the overall time limit is 10 hours.

Entries are available for solo runners and five-person relay teams. Entry fees listed are Solo: £45.00 affiliated, £47.00 unaffiliated; Relay (per team): £75.00 affiliated, £85.00 unaffiliated. Field limit is 200. Minimum ages are 20 years for individual runners and 17 years for relay team runners. Participants are asked to carry suitable kit for conditions, including a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, emergency food, water and a fully charged mobile phone with the race director’s number.

Relay legs between checkpoints are approximately:

  • Start to CP1: 7.5 miles
  • CP1 to CP2: 7.8 miles
  • CP2 to CP3: 3.9 miles
  • CP3 to CP4: 8.3 miles
  • CP4 to finish: 7.5 miles

Finishers of the full course receive a medal and T-shirt; relay team members receive a T-shirt. Prizes and trophies are awarded for individual and team placings. Trail runs nearby

Two waymarked trail races of 5 km and 10 km take place around Kirkby Fleetham on 9 June 2026, both finishing at the village hall. Routes run through fields, farms and forestry and are open to participants aged 16 and above.

A scenic out and back trail from Otley to Pateley Bridge on the Six Dales Trail, offered over 13, 20 and 32 mile distances with checkpoints, trackers and mandatory kit requirements.

A 24 mile fell run and challenge walk through Swaledale on 13 June 2026, organised by Swaledale Outdoor Club. Competitors must navigate the route themselves and finish within 10 hours; minimum age 14.

A charity 5K colour run in Silsden supporting Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, run over three laps with seven paint stations, obstacles and a finishers' medal. The event includes music, food and a bar after the race.
