Ridgy-Didge Trail Event

The Ridgy-Didge is a trail running event held in Hobart, Tasmania, as part of the Kunanyi Trail Series. The event takes place on Sunday 27 September with the central gathering point and bib pick-up located at the Ridgeway Oval Event Hub. The course features runnable trails through local landscapes.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances based on their preference:

  • 13 km Enduro course with 600 m of elevation gain.
  • 7 km Sport course with 350 m of elevation gain.
  • 3 km Explorer course with 140 m of elevation gain.

The event includes a Welcome to Country and a briefing for all participants before the start. The Event Hub is designed to accommodate support crews and families, providing access to coffee and a barbecue that begins shortly after the run starts. The day concludes with presentations and spot prizes held at the hub. The routes are mapped via Strava, highlighting the specific elevation profiles for each distance. A midwinter headtorch trail run on Knocklofty near West Hobart with three course distances that pass native bushland, night views of Kunanyi and the Derwent River. Headtorches of at least 300 lumens are recommended.

Trail running at Tolosa Park, Glenorchy with 21 km, 10 km and 5 km routes through mixed forest and rocky terrain. The 5 km route is described as pram able but remains rough and may require an all-terrain pram.
