Regular Irregular : 21st edition

This event offers walkers and runners the option to complete up to three looped routes around the Holmfirth area, organised by The Irregulars. The event starts and finishes at Brockholes Village Hall, Brockholes, Holmfirth HD9 7EB.

Distances offered:

  • Loop A: 11.6 miles / 18.5 km
  • Loop B: 7.2 miles / 11.5 km
  • Loop C: 4.2 miles / 6.7 km

Participants may walk or run any number of loops but must complete them in order of length with the longest first and the shortest last for safety reasons. There are cut off times for starting Loop B and Loop C. Entry is limited to 150 participants and a wait list operates when the limit is reached. Advance entry fees are £12 for LDWA members and £15 for non LDWA entrants; on the day entry is £20 cash only. Children under 16 may participate free when accompanied by an adult. U18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control.

The route crosses moorland, urban terrain and roads. Maps required: Explorer 288. Participants are required to carry waterproof clothing, a spare top, suitable footwear, a head or hand torch with spare batteries, a first aid kit, a compass, whistle, a survival bag, and a route description and map. Entry includes tea and toast at registration, snacks and cold drinks between loops, a meal at the finish and a certificate; participants should bring their own mug. Marshals may withdraw participants for safety and anyone retiring must do so at a checkpoint. Catering cannot be guaranteed free from all potential allergens. Lets Motor along the Towpath in Rodley is a canal-side trail event on a flat towpath with distances from 10k to ultramarathon. The course is signed and marshalled, has regular feed stations and a bespoke finisher medal.
