21st Regular Irregular

This event offers walkers and runners the option to complete up to three looped routes in the Holmfirth surrounds, with registration and the event base at Brockholes Village Hall, Holmfirth. Participants choose how many loops to do but must complete them in order of length, longest first and shortest last, so the course can be swept and all participants accounted for.

Available loop distances:

  • 11.6 miles (Loop A)
  • 7.2 miles (Loop B)
  • 4.2 miles (Loop C)

The terrain includes moorland, urban sections and roads, and the event takes place in early winter conditions. Maps are required; Explorer 288 is listed. Electronic route descriptions are allowed if downloaded in advance with a reliable back up power supply.

Entry options and limits are stated, with advance fees different for LDWA members and non members and an on the day cash fee. Children under 16 walk free if accompanied by an adult; under 18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian. The event limits entries to 150 and operates a wait list when full. Dogs are permitted but must be under constant control.

Safety arrangements include checkpoints for retiring participants and the right for marshals to withdraw participants if fitness or progress is a concern. Refreshments are provided between loops and a meal and certificate are included at the finish. Participants are asked to bring their own mug.
