Event details

The 20th Regular Irregular takes place on Saturday 13 December 2025 in the Holmfirth area. The event starts and finishes at Brockholes Village Hall, Brockholes, Holmfirth HD9 7EB. It is organised by The Irregulars and open to both walkers and runners. Advance entry fees are LDWA £12 and non-LDWA £15; on-the-day entry is £20, cash only. Entries open 17 March 2025 and close 11 December 2025. Entrant limit 150 with a wait list when full. Children under 16 accompanied by an adult are free. U-18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian; U-16s must walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control.

Routes, services and requirements

Participants may walk or run up to three loop routes. The loops are:

  • 11.6 miles / 18.5 km (Loop A)
  • 7.2 miles / 11.5 km (Loop B)
  • 4.2 miles / 6.7 km (Loop C)

Loops must be completed in order of length, longest first and shortest last. There are cut-off times to start Loops B and C. The event covers moorland, urban terrain and roads in early winter conditions. Minimum required equipment includes waterproof clothing, a spare top, suitable footwear, a head or hand torch with spare batteries, a first aid kit, compass, whistle, a survival bag (not blanket), and a route description plus a map (electronic maps allowed if downloaded and backed up). Entry includes tea and toast at registration, snacks and cold drinks between loops, a meal at the finish and a certificate.
