The 20th Regular Irregular is a daytime walking and running event on Saturday 13 December 2025, hosted by The Irregulars in the Holmfirth area. The event starts and finishes at Brockholes Village Hall, Brockholes, Holmfirth HD9 7EB (GR SE153109, what3words: empty.left.crisp). The route terrain includes moorland, urban sections and roads, and the event takes place in early winter conditions.

Routes

Participants may walk or run up to three loop routes. Loops must be completed in order of length, longest first and shortest last.

  • 11.6 miles (18.5 km) - Loop A
  • 7.2 miles (11.5 km) - Loop B
  • 4.2 miles (6.7 km) - Loop C

Entry, facilities and safety

Advance entry fees are LDWA £12 and Non-LDWA £15; on-the-day entry is £20 (cash only). Children under 16 accompanied by an adult enter free. Entry is limited to 150 participants; a wait list operates when full. U-18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian; U-16s must walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control.

Entry includes tea and toast at registration, snacks and cold drinks between loops, a meal at finish and a certificate. Participants are asked to bring their own mug. Required kit includes waterproofs, spare top, suitable footwear, torch with spare batteries, first aid kit, compass, whistle, survival bag, and a route map or downloaded electronic map with backup power. Grim Leodis is a canal and riverside trail event in Kirkstall with distances from 6.55 miles up to marathon. The lapped course mixes towpath, trail and road, with marshals, feed stations and a cupless approach.

A winter fell race from the Rams Head Inn across moorland and the Pennine Way, roughly 12 miles with 2100 feet of ascent. Checkpoints provide basic supplies and full FRA winter kit is required.

The St Aidan's Winter Beast is a 6.66-mile hilly trail race in Swillington, Leeds. It features a sluice crossing and sections of challenging off-path terrain. Entry is limited, with a distinct course around the RSPB nature reserve.
