Regular Irregular : The Irregulars LDWA
The 21st Regular Irregular is a winter walking and running challenge held in the Holmfirth area with HQ at Brockholes village hall, Brockholes, Huddersfield (grid ref SE 153109). The event offers a set of looped routes; route descriptions, maps and GPX files are available to download in advance. Entrants must supply their own copies of the route description and maps, explorer map 288 is referenced.
Entry is by advanced registration only via SI Entries; paper entries are not accepted. Entry fees are £12 for LDWA members and £15 for non members in advance, with an on the day cash entry of £20 when available. The event is limited to 150 entrants and a waiting list operates once full. U18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian; U16s are free only if accompanied. Dogs are allowed but must be on a lead and kept under constant control.
The event crosses moorland, urban terrain and roads and takes place in early winter. Participants are required to carry waterproof clothing, a spare top, suitable footwear, a head or hand torch with spare batteries, a first aid kit, compass, whistle, survival bag, and map or downloaded electronic route with back up power. Reflective markings and a mobile phone are advised.
Catering includes tea and toast at registration, snacks and cold drinks between loops, and a meal at the finish; entrants should bring their own mug. Refunds are available up to one month before the event minus the SI Entries admin fee; later refunds are not given except where cancellation is due to force majeure, in which case refunds are issued minus fees and any admin costs.
