Rattlesnake Dick

Rattlesnake Dick is a trail running event held in Cool, California, with start and finish at the Cool Staging Area (7200 Saint Florian Court). The event offers multiple marked courses on natural trails and provides course maps and GPX files for navigation.

Distances include:

  • 50K: 4,700 ft elevation gain and loss
  • 25K: 2,100 ft elevation gain and loss
  • 10K: 1,060 ft elevation gain and loss

Timing is managed with professional race timing chips and live tracking and results. Aid stations are placed along each course; some stations provide full services and some provide water only. Time cutoffs and intermediate checkpoints apply to certain distances.

Event services and items for participants include a North Fork Clothing event shirt for every entrant, a weighted finisher medallion for official finishers, and custom trophies for top-three men and women in each distance. Trekking poles are allowed on course.

Logistics notes: parking fees are not included in registration and a day use pass is required for entry to the parking area. Volunteers direct parking in the day use and overflow lots. Packet pick-up is offered before race day at the Placer County Visitors Bureau in Auburn and on race morning at the Cool Staging Area.

The event references a local 1856 outlaw legend as its theme and presents the courses as a themed trail experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
