Rat Race 100 Ultramarathon

The Rat Race 100 is a 100 mile, mass participation run and trek staged as part of a three‑event trilogy that links each edition into a continuous journey. The series offers a 48 hours completion window and does not require qualifying times. The event supports walkers at a 2.5 mph moving pace and provides full waymarking along the route.

The event is fully supported with professional on course logistics. Organisers move up to five small drop bags to key pit stops and a larger finish bag to Edinburgh. A sweeper bus operates for participants who withdraw. Medical cover is delivered by an established professional provider and includes paramedics and doctors in vehicles and a private ambulance.

The course contains nine pit stops with a mix of simple and enhanced food provisions; standard supplies include water, juice, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, toilets and on site medical staff. Pit stops do not stock commercial sports nutrition so participants should use their own gels and supplements. Some pit stops do not permit supporters and there are cut offs in the later miles designed around the published moving pace.

Participants must be over 18 at Registration. The trilogy structure awards a Trilogy Finisher buckle to participants who complete all three 100 mile events. Logistics notes state the route may be changed for safety and that the event is primarily one way with parking and post event bus services from Bamburgh.
