Pick Your Poison Trail Run
Event overview
Pick Your Poison Trail Race is an annual ultra trail event in the Copeland Forest near Barrie, Ontario, held on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event offers three distance options:
- 12.5k (one loop)
- 25k (two loops)
- 50k (four loops)
Total capacity is 450 runners, with 150 entries per distance. Registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis and a wait list is used when categories sell out. The race operates a cupless aid station model to reduce single-use waste.
Course and race logistics
The course is roughly 98% trail and each loop includes about 343 m of climbing. The route starts with a short 500 m logging-road section, then moves to single-track, a ski-hill climb and descent, rolling MTB-style trails, and named climbs such as "Little Katie" before returning to the chalet at the Heights of Horseshoe. Each loop contains three aid stations stocked with water, pop, Hammer Nutrition Heed electrolyte, gels, candy, chips and pickles; additional items like fruit, PB&J and hot soup may be available. Finishers receive a finisher shirt, a jar of local honey and a pair of event socks; a boxed post-race lunch is provided with registration. Refunds are not offered; runners may defer entries up to midnight EST on April 15 and deferrals can be carried for up to two years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
