Pick Your Poison Trail Run
Pick Your Poison Trail Run : Overview
Pick Your Poison is an annual not for profit ultra trail race held each April in the Copeland Forest near Barrie, Ontario. The event is based on a 12.5 km loop; runners choose to complete 1, 2, or 4 loops to register for 12.5 km, 25 km, or 50 km distances. Each loop includes about 343 m of elevation gain and the course is approximately 98% trail.
Each loop is supported by three aid stations stocked with water, pop, Heed electrolyte drink, Hammer Nutrition gels, assorted candy, chips, and pickles. Additional foods such as fruit, PB and J sandwiches, or hot soup may be provided. The race operates cupless to reduce single use waste and asks participants to bring reusable containers; a cup is available for warm liquids.
Event capacity is 450 runners total with 150 spots per distance. The race operates as a not for profit and directs proceeds to local mental health programs and Copeland Forest Friends. Race kits include a jar of local honey and a shirt; finishers receive a unique finisher sock design but only if they complete their registered distance.
Registration is first come, first served and a free wait list is used to fill openings. Refunds are not offered; deferrals are allowed up to April 15 and may be carried over for up to two years. Distance transfers are permitted until April 15 with payment if moving to a longer distance. Dossard transfers to runners outside the wait list are generally not allowed.
