Pick Your Poison Trail Run 2026

The Pick Your Poison Trail Run is a non-profit ultra trail event held at The Heights Ski & Country Club in Barrie, Ontario. The race features a 98% trail-based course through the Heights of Horseshoe and Copeland Forest. The event is structured around a 12.5 km loop, with each circuit containing 343m of elevation gain including climbs up the ski hills and descents into the valley.

Runners can select from three available distances:

  • 12.5 km (one loop)
  • 25 km (two loops)
  • 50 km (four loops)

The terrain transitions from flat logging roads and single-track mountain bike trails to wide cross-country ski trails. Notable features include a significant climb up a ski hill near the first aid station and a steep ascent known as Little Katie toward the end of the loop.

This is a cupless event, requiring participants to bring their own reusable hydration systems. There are three aid stations per loop providing water, electrolytes, gels, and snacks. Registration includes a boxed lunch provided by the venue, a jar of local honey, and an event shirt. Finishers who complete their registered distance also receive a pair of technical running socks.

The race has a total capacity of 450 participants, with 150 spots available for each distance. Proceeds support local social service organizations and the Copeland Forest Friends. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
