Pick Your Poison Trail Race takes place in the Copeland Forest area at the Heights of Horseshoe, Horseshoe Valley, near Barrie, Ontario. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event is organized as a not-for-profit with proceeds supporting local mental health programs and Copeland Forest Friends. Total capacity is 450 runners, with 150 spots allocated to each distance.

Course and race features

The course is a 98% trail-based loop of 12.5 km that gains about 343 m of elevation per loop. Runners may choose:

  • 12.5k - one loop
  • 25k - two loops
  • 50k - four loops

Each loop includes three aid stations stocked with water, electrolytes, various snacks, chips, pickles, and gels; additional items such as fruit, PB & J, and hot soup may be available. The race operates a cupless policy; participants are encouraged to use reusable hydration systems. Registered runners receive a kit with a local jar of honey and a shirt; finishers receive event socks (must finish the registered distance to receive socks). Post-race boxed lunch is provided to participants.

Registration and policies

Registration is first come, first served with wait lists used after categories sell out. The event does not offer refunds; deferrals are allowed up to midnight EST on April 15 and may be carried over for a maximum of two years. Distance transfers are permitted up to the same date; moving to a longer distance requires payment of the fee difference. Bib transfers are restricted and generally not permitted.
