Event

The Cottam Canter takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026 at the UCLAN Sports Arena, Cottam, Preston, Lancashire, PR2 1SG. The event is part of a three-day series and has a maximum of 100 entrants. Entries close on 02/05/2026. Trail Running Association race permit number is to be announced. All participants must be aged over 18. Runners aged 18-19 may compete up to the marathon distance; runners aged 20 and over have no maximum distance.

Course

The event uses a 5K loop that starts on the sports arena grounds and follows the Lancaster canal towpath. The route passes canal locks and the Millennium Ribble Link, then goes through tree-lined paths of Haslam Park, looping around the park and lake before returning to the canal and finishing back at the sports arena. Loop and out-and-back configurations are used for longer distances.

  • Ultra - as many laps as desired within a 6-hour limit; last lap must start within 5 hours 15 minutes

Practical information

The UCLAN Sports Arena offers changing rooms, toilets, showers, a cafe and free parking. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-run refreshments.
