PFW Running - Cottam Canter

PFW Running - Cottam Canter takes place on Saturday 8 May 2027 at the UCLAN sports arena in Cottam, Preston. The event starts on the arena grounds and uses the Lancaster canal towpath and nearby parkland for its routes.

The course leads runners toward Preston, down through canal locks and along the Millennium Ribble Link. It continues through tree lined paths in Haslam Park, loops around the park and lake, returns to the canal and finishes back at the sports arena.

Distances and lap structure:

  • 5K loop
  • 10K two loops of the 5K course
  • Half marathon four loops plus a short out and back
  • Marathon eight loops plus a short out and back
  • Ultra as many laps as desired within a six hour limit; last lap must start within 5 hours 15 minutes

On the day the event provides sweet and savoury snacks, water, cordial and coke, a bespoke medal and post run goodies. The route is fully marked and there is medical cover. The event is held under UKA rules and has a Trail Running Association race permit number to be announced.

Facility notes and entry terms: the UCLAN sports arena has changing rooms, toilets, showers, a cafe and free parking. Age limits require all participants to be over 18; 18 to 19 year olds may race up to the marathon distance, while those over 20 have no maximum distance. Maximum entrants are 100 and entries close 07/05/2027. Refunds are not permitted; transfers or deferrals are allowed up to one week before the event. Trail runs nearby

A 10 km adventure run with obstacles across roads, fields and canal paths near the Lake District, held during Holme's Festival of Sport weekend. Shorter 5 km options and a Mini Howler fun run are also part of the event.

Phoenix Blaze in Manchester is the second race of a 2026 Summer Series at Chorlton Water Park. Timed laps on a 5.3 km out-and-back course let participants cover distances from a single lap up to ultra within a seven hour limit.

A 11.1k trail run at Stonyhurst College on 11 July 2026 with 528 ft of elevation, passing woodland, historic bridges and the River Ribble. Organised by Stonyhurst Experience with on site parking and race goodies for finishers.

A point-to-point trail run from Bury to Rawtenstall alongside the East Lancashire Railway and the River Irwell. Runners try to keep pace with a steam train while supporters can ride the train; finishers receive a medal and T-shirt.
