Event Overview

The PFW Running - Cottam Canter is a multi-distance running event taking place at the UCLAN Sports Arena in Cottam, Preston. The course starts in the arena grounds before heading onto the Lancaster Canal towpath.

Course and Distances

Runners follow a route towards Preston, passing through canal locks and the millennium Ribble link. The course then goes through the tree-lined paths of Haslam Park, looping around the park and its lake, before returning to the canal. The final section heads back to the sports arena to finish.

The event is based on a 5K loop:

  • 10K: 2 loops
  • Half Marathon: 4 loops + a short out-and-back
  • Marathon: 8 loops + a short out-and-back
  • Ultra: As many laps as desired within a 6-hour time limit (the final lap must be started within 5 hours 15 minutes).

Event Details

All participants receive a bespoke medal and post-run refreshments. Snacks and drinks are provided during the event. The UCLAN Sports Arena offers facilities including changing rooms, toilets, showers, a cafe, and free parking.

This event is part of a three-day series; participants can enter one, two, or all three days. The maximum number of entrants is 100. Age limits apply: all participants must be over 18.
