Petzl Night Trails 10k - Salcey Forest

This is a night 10k held at Salcey Forest, a Forestry Commission site near Northampton with a cafe and toilets. The venue postcode is NN7 2HX. Parking is paid; organisers have arranged a special evening parking offer and will provide details to entrants.

The route is a fully marked, essentially two lap course on crushed stone. Ground conditions depend on weather and the surface can become slippery and muddy because of tree detritus. Salcey Forest is generally flat. A head or chest torch is required to take part; Petzl will attend with demo head torches available to try before, during or after the event.

There is a canicross race that starts ten minutes before the main field as a mass start. Dogs can become excited in this format, so owners with reactive animals are advised to consider other event formats; canicross entrants must register for the canicross race.

Organisers operate tiered pricing with no booking fee and charge an additional fee for unaffiliated entrants. Biodegradable cups, water and electrolyte will be provided on course and hot drinks will be available before and after the event. The event supports Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity via optional fundraising and offers an alternative to a medal through a tree token that funds tree planting and contains wildflower seeds.
