Olympic Mountains Trail Races
The Olympic Mountains Trail Races are a multi-distance trail running festival held in the Olympic National Forest between Quilcene and Sequim, Washington. Distances offered include:
- 100K continuous course with ten aid stations.
- 50K mountain course with four aid stations.
- 25K course with three aid stations.
- 10K course with one aid station.
- Ruck divisions for the 25K and 50K carrying 20 to 30 pounds.
Course and support highlights include significant elevation gain on the longer distances, high points near 5,800 to 5,820 feet on the 50K and 100K, and a high-point of about 4,272 feet on the 25K. The 100K course lists roughly 14,200 feet of climbing and is mostly single-track trail; the 50K lists about 8,600 feet of gain and largely single-track sections. The 25K includes approximately 3,700 feet of climbing and a summit on Mt Zion. Aid station provisions vary by station and include hydration drink, water, gels, and a mix of salty and sweet foods; some aid stations offer warm food later in the day. Cut-off times are published for each distance.
Race entry includes a marked course, stocked aid stations, timing, a race souvenir, a post-race meal, and two nights of free camping. Race HQ is a retired quarry in the forest about 12 miles from Highway 101 near Quilcene; camping allows tents, camper vans and small RVs, port-a-potties are provided, and dogs are not permitted.
