Olympic Mountains Trail Races : Quilcene, Washington
The Olympic Mountains Trail Races take place in the Olympic National Forest near the village of Quilcene. The event weekend features multiple trail distances on single-track and forest roads, with varied climbing and aid-station support.
The longest course is a continuous 100K that uses mostly single-track trail, includes about 14,200 feet of elevation gain, and reaches a course high point near 5,820 feet at the Buckhorn Wilderness boundary. The 100K route follows several creek corridors including Gold Creek, the Dungeness River, and Royal Creek, and includes ten aid stations with a mix of light and full aid.
The 50K is a single loop that begins near Race HQ at about 2,600 feet, climbs toward Mount Townsend and Mount Zion, and includes roughly 8,600 feet of climbing and mostly single-track running. A 50K Ruck division is offered for participants carrying weighted packs.
The 25K is a single loop with nearly 4,000 feet of elevation change and a sustained 2,250-foot climb to Mount Zion over 3.7 miles. A 25K Ruck division requires a 20 to 30 lb pack (excluding food and water) and awards a finisher item and patch.
A new 10K course measures 6.56 miles, is about half single-track, includes 1,117 feet of climbing, and has one aid station.
Race headquarters are in a retired quarry accessed by Forest Service roads; drivers should expect limited cell signal and variable road conditions. Registration opens January 23, 2026, and pricing is set in early and late registration windows. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
