North Chilterns 50K
The North Chilterns 50K is a 50 km trail race held from Putteridge Bury in Luton, Bedfordshire. The course gains about 798 m of elevation and uses local trails including sections of the Chiltern Way, Warden Hill, Barton Hills, Pegsdon Hills and routes toward Offley. The final 12 km include three short climbs and rolling terrain.
The route is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and will have marshals at several key points. All runners must carry a digital version of the route on a watch or phone as a backup. The event is a UTMB World Series index race and is licensed by the Trail Running Association with UKA rules.
There are three aid stations with toilets at the following locations and distances: Arnold Rec, Barton at 14.3 km; The View at 28 km; Offley Village Hall at 37.2 km. Aid stations provide water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, snacks and fresh fruit. The event base at Putteridge Bury provides indoor registration, toilets, hot drinks, bag drop and free onsite parking. Chip timing with live results and course wide medical support are provided. Entry is open to runners aged 20 years or older with no qualifying standard. Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone, route map on watch or phone, waterproof jacket, headtorch, at least 0.5 L of refillable hydration, cash or card, warm hat and gloves and a foil blanket.
