Thames Path Ultra Challenge

The Thames Path Ultra Challenge follows England’s longest river, providing a scenic route for walkers, joggers, and runners. Starting at Putney Bridge in West London, the full course heads upstream along the famous towpath, passing through Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, and Windsor before reaching the finish line in Henley-on-Thames.

The event offers a variety of distance options to accommodate different goals:

  • 100 km Full Challenge (Continuous or 2-Day Daylight option with halfway camping)
  • 72 km Three-Quarter Challenge (Hurst Park to Henley)
  • 50 km Half Challenge (Putney to Runnymede or Runnymede to Henley)
  • 28 km or 22 km Quarter Challenges
  • 10 km Henley loop

Participants receive comprehensive support, including marquee rest stops located approximately every 12.5 km. These stations provide snacks, drinks, and hot meals at major stops. The route is fully signed with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections, supported by GPS tracking via a mobile app. Medical teams, podiatrists, and massage services are available at rest stops to assist challengers.

Special categories include Ultra March for hikers aiming to complete 100 km in under 24 hours (or 50 km in under 12 hours) and Trailblazerz for competitive runners with specific time goals. Finisher perks include a medal, a T-shirt, and a glass of fizz. Shuttle buses and transfers are available for travel between key venues and local train stations.
