Thames Path Ultra Challenge (12-13 September 2026)

The Thames Path Ultra Challenge takes place along the Thames towpath from Putney/Fulham to Henley-on-Thames. The route passes Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, and Windsor and offers both continuous and two-day formats. The event is part of a weekend festival that also includes a Thames Bridges 25 km trek and a Henley riverside 10 km event.

Distances and route options

  • 100 km - Full continuous Fulham to Henley-on-Thames, 350 m climb.
  • 100 km - Two-day daylight option split into two 50 km stages with camping available.
  • 72 km - Three quarter challenge from Hurst Park to Henley-on-Thames.
  • 50 km - First half Fulham to Runnymede; second half Runnymede to Henley-on-Thames.
  • 28 km / 22 km - Quarter sections available across the weekend.
  • 10 km - Henley 10K loop near Henley Bridge on Sunday.

Support, categories and services

Rest stops are provided roughly every 12.5 km with major stops about every 25 km; they include marquee cover, medical and welfare tents, catering, seating and changing areas. The event provides GPS tracking, route signing with arrows, and an app with maps and tracking. Catering includes snacks at 12.5 km intervals and meals every 25 km; dietary requirements are catered for. There are medical, podiatry and massage teams, shuttle buses to local stations, and camping packages at the midway site. Special entry categories include Ultra March and the new Trailblazerz competitive running category; solo and team entries are available. Trail runs nearby

Support Hospice of St Francis at the Wild Christmas Charity Run, a guided 8km trail or 4km family walk from Church Farm Cafe. Enjoy a mince pie with entry, optional fancy dress and limited places so book early.

Run a scenic 50k through the Surrey Hills on a fully signed out and back trail with food stations and live timing. Friendly for newcomers to ultras yet rewarding for seasoned trail runners.

UTMB Index

Join the Christmas Cracker at Newlands Corner on 7 December for pantomime themed family score orienteering and colour coded Orange Green and Blue courses. Guildford Orienteers will provide festive refreshments and friendly guidance.

Join the Phoenix Running Bobble Wobble Run at Crystal Palace Park for a timed multi lap challenge on park trails. Run as many 1.65 mile laps as you can in seven hours and collect a finishers medal and Phoenix bobble hat.
