Nicky Nook Fell Race

The Nicky Nook Fell Race is a midweek event organized by Garstang Running Club. The course takes place in the scenery around Scorton and Nicky Nook near Garstang. The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association (FRA) and follows UKA rules.

The event features a single distance:

  • 8 km (5 miles) with an elevation gain of 310 m (1000 ft).

The race route is partially flagged. Participants are informed that the final off-road descent is located on private property and is only available for use during the race. Runners are asked to use the main track if scouting the area beforehand.

Safety regulations require a mandatory kit check before collecting race numbers. All participants must bring minimum FRA kit, which includes waterproof full body cover with taped seams and an integrated hood, a hat, gloves, a map, a compass, a whistle, and emergency food.

The event has an entry limit of 140 participants and a minimum age requirement of 16. While online pre-entry is preferred, entries on the night are permitted only if the limit has not been reached. Amenities at the event include free parking at the Applestore Café and a post-race meal of soup and a roll for all runners. Additional refreshments are available for purchase on-site.
