Nicky Nook Fell Race

Nicky Nook Fell Race is a midweek club fell race around Scorton and Nicky Nook on 7th May 2026. The course is partially flagged and includes an off road descent that is available for use only on race night with the landowner's permission; runners recceing the route should use the main track instead.

The route is listed as BS and covers 5 miles (8 km) with approximately 1000 ft (310 m) of ascent. The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association (FRA) under UKA rules.

There is an entry fee of £8.00 and entries are limited to 140 runners; on-the-night entry is possible only if the limit has not been reached. Free parking is available at the Applestore, and organisers request car sharing or cycling to reduce parking demand.

FRA mandatory minimum kit must be carried by each runner. Required items include a waterproof full body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, a hat (not a buff), gloves, an appropriate map, a compass, a whistle and emergency food. A kit check takes place prior to number collection.

After the race, all runners are offered free hearty soup and a roll in the Shippon at the Applestore Café. Additional food and drink items are available to buy before, during and after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
