Nicky Nook Fell Race

Nicky Nook Fell Race takes place on 7 May 2026 near Scorton and Nicky Nook, close to Garstang. The event base is the Shippon at the Applestore Café, Wyresdale Park, Snowhill Lane, Scorton PR3 1BA.

The course is a British fell race (BS) of 5 miles (8 km) with approximately 1000 ft (310 m) of ascent. The route is partially flagged. Runners are asked not to use the final off road descent when recceing the course because that section is only available on race night by permission of the landowner. The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules.

FRA mandatory minimum kit must be carried: waterproof full body cover with taped seams and an integrated attached hood, hat (not a buff), gloves, appropriate map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Organisers will decide what kit to take on the night and there is a kit check prior to collecting race numbers.

Entries open 1 January 2026 and close 5 May 2026. Minimum age is 16. Entry fee is £8 and the field is limited to 140 runners; on the night entry is only possible if the limit has not been reached. Pre-entry is preferred so organisers can order enough soup.

All runners receive free soup and a roll in the Shippon at the Applestore Café after the race. Additional items such as beer, cake, tea and coffee will be available to buy. A good amount of free parking is available at the Applestore and organisers ask participants to car share or cycle where possible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
