Newlands Memorial Race

The Newlands Memorial Race takes place on 18 April 2026 at Newlands Adventure Centre, Stair, Keswick, CA12 5UF. It is categorised AM and forms a counter in the Pete Bland Sports / inov‑8 Lakes Grand Prix. The route crosses multiple fells and returns to the Adventure Centre.

Race distance and ascent:

  • 11.5 miles : 3609 ft
  • 18.5 km : 1100 m

Entry is limited to 500 competitors and pre entry is required via SiEntries. Minimum age is 18 and there is no entry on the day. Parking is available in a nearby field for £5 per car.

Competitors must carry compulsory kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. A full kit check is carried out at registration. Checkpoints on the route include Start above Skelgill, Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy and Cat Bells, with the finish opposite the Adventure Centre.

Post race provisions include a complimentary half pint of beer and tea and coffee; hot food can be ordered on entry. The event was formerly known as the Anniversary Waltz and was renamed the Newlands Memorial Race in 2019. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A hill trail event in Cockermouth featuring a 6 km multi terrain adult race with a timed summit contest and separate junior races with medals sponsored by Holmen. The event is chip timed and has limited parking.

A short, sharp fell race over 3 miles with 820 ft of ascent around Latterbarrow. The event takes place in May with junior and senior starts. Entry is available on the day.

A fell running event at Sale Fell on 23 May 2026 featuring a 6 mile senior race, a 6 km U18 race and junior races from U10 to U18, chip timed with age grading under FRA rules and prizes for top and age category finishers.

Trail half marathon and 10K in Whinlatter Forest on 24 May 2026. Routes use firm forest trails with steep climbs, wide views of lakes and mountains, live chip timing, and one leashed dog allowed per runner.
