Millom Striders - Run the Edge 2026

Run the Edge is a multi-terrain running festival organized by the Millom Striders Running Club. Taking place at the end of May, the event features several distances that utilize the Cumbrian Coastal path and surrounding areas. All scheduled events start and finish at the Millom Rugby Union Football Club at Wilson Park in Haverigg.

The courses offer views of the Duddon Estuary, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and the Southern Lakeland fells of the Lake District. Visible landmarks from the route include Blackcombe, Whitecombe, Coniston Old Man, and Scafell Pike.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 11.75 km (Run the Edge) for ages 16 and over.
  • 5 km (Lighthouse run) for ages 12 and over.
  • 1 mile (Family fun run) for all ages.

The 5 km route proceeds along the Millom Sea Wall, loops around the lighthouse at the halfway mark, and returns to the football club. The 11.75 km course also follows the sea wall but continues further along the coastal path toward Millom before turning back.

The venue provides registration areas, changing facilities, and secure storage for bags and equipment. On-site amenities include catering services and a licensed bar. For those staying overnight, limited camping plots are available at the rugby club, with additional holiday parks located nearby in Haverigg.
