Event Overview

This is a guided recce event for participants of the Lakes in A Day (LiAD) challenge. The session allows runners to preview a specific section of the full LiAD route.

Route Information

The recce covers the third section of the series, from Helvellyn to Ambleside. The route starts from Legburthwaite, Thirlmere, and accesses Sticks Pass. It then continues over Helvellyn and Fairfield. The total distance is approximately 11 miles with around 6000 feet of ascent.

Event Details

The group is led by experienced NAV4 tutors who are also LiAD guides. The day includes advice on event strategy, navigation, suitable clothing and gear, nutrition, and training methods. Transport to the start is provided via the regular 555 bus service from Ambleside; the bus fare is not included in the entry fee. The group size is limited to 12 participants.
