NAV4 LiAD Recce - Caldbeck to Threlkeld

This event is a guided reconnaissance session for the first section of the Lakes in a Day (LiAD) race route. Participants travel from Caldbeck to Threlkeld under the guidance of experienced tutors and guides. The session is designed to familiarize runners with the specific terrain and technical aspects of this leg of the race.

The route covers a total distance of 12 miles (approximately 19.3 km) and features 3600 feet (approximately 1097 meters) of both ascent and descent. The terrain begins with a few miles of lanes and trails before transitionining into remote, open, and rough fell. Specific technical features of the course include fording the River Caldew, the ascent of Blencathra, and the descent of Hallsfell Ridge. Participants should expect wet grassy paths, rocky sections, and slow-moving technical ground.

In addition to route familiarization, the day covers practical information regarding:
