The event offers a chip timed 10 kilometre race held in Ripon, with Race HQ at St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School, Church Lane, HG4 2ES. The main course is a single lap multi terrain route across undulating farmland and countryside that includes road, footpaths and trails. The course is not suitable for wheelchair athletes. Race licence is subject to approval. Entry for the 10 kilometre race is limited to 500 places; remaining places were listed as 415 at the time of publication.
A separate Muddy Boots Fun Run takes place on the same day. The Fun Run is an approximate 1 kilometre route across the school and adjoining Ripon Grammar School fields. All ages may enter; children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Fun Run finishers receive a medal. Fun Run entry is priced at £5 online and £6 on the day.
Entry fees for the 10 kilometre race were listed as £18 for affiliated runners and £20 for unaffiliated runners. Earlybird prices end on 15 November. Entry fees include race fees, card charges and administration costs. Race facilities noted at Race HQ include water stations, distance markers and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store. Homemade refreshments are available to purchase at Race HQ. Space at Race HQ is limited so runners are asked to arrive ready to run.
