Mt. Tam Wild Boar Half Marathon & 10K

The 38th annual Mt. Tam Wild Boar event takes place at Mt Tamalpais State Park in Mill Valley, California. Two distance options are offered.

  • Half Marathon: Ridgecrest Blvd to Bolinas Fairfax Road and return via the Coastal Trail.
  • 10K: Willow Camp Trail left turn then back to Rock Springs via the Coastal Trail.

The course combines paved roadways and dirt single track, including rolling single-track sections along Bolinas Ridge with views of Bolinas Lagoon, the Pacific Ocean, and local watersheds. The race starts at Rock Springs and follows Ridgecrest Blvd along the ridge that separates East and West Marin County.

Course markings use orange ribbon. A course monitor will direct 10K runners at the turn and the half marathon turnaround is marked with a sign. Aid stations are located at mile 5 for the 10K, and at miles 2.35, 7, and 12 for the half marathon, with food and drink available at the finish. Participants are advised to carry water.

The event is limited to 300 participants. A three hour course cut off applies, equivalent to about 13:45 min per mile pace for half marathoners and about 29 min per mile for 10K runners. Hikers and walkers are welcome. Bib numbers are mailed beginning two weeks before the race; on site bib pickup is available near the Mountain Theater if needed.

T shirts are provided to all participants. Medals are awarded to all half marathon finishers and personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group will be mailed a few weeks after the race.

Parking is available in the Rock Springs Parking area of Mt Tamalpais State Park and attendants will direct vehicles. For safety reasons audio devices and headphones are not allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
