Dick Collins Firetrails

Dick Collins Firetrails is an annual trail running event held at Lake Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley, California. The event for 2026 comprises three distances and will run on sections of the historic courses used in earlier decades.

  • Bay Ridge 100k
  • Firetrails 50 Mile
  • Golden Hills Marathon

Course plans for 2026 include a return to original sections for the Firetrails 50, a Bay Ridge 100k route that extends toward Rancho Laguna, and a new Golden Hills Marathon course in development. There will be no 30k race this year. Athlete guides with aid station placement, crew access, and race details will be published mid February.

Race operations note time limits and rules: time limits are published for each distance and are enforced because of park curfews. Drop bags are supported and many aid stations are accessible to crew. Pacers are permitted for the 100k and the 50 mile with prior registration and must provide their own transport; pacers are not permitted for the marathon. No shuttle service is provided for pacers.

Finishers receive event apparel and commemorative items; Bay Ridge 100k finishers receive a distinctive belt buckle in addition to standard finisher items. Age group awards are presented by ten year categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
