Community Hike and Trail Run Series
The Community Hike and Trail Run Series is a recurring monthly outdoor event held in Richmond, California. Organized through a collaboration between FIERCE Advocates, Moving Forward, and the Richmond Run Club, this series takes place on the first Saturday of each month. The 2026 schedule includes dates from March through November.
Participants meet at 5551 Giant Highway to engage in physical activity and community building. The event structure begins with a collective group welcome and safety briefing before attendees choose their preferred pace and activity style.
Participants can select between two primary options:
- Community Hike: A conversational pace with designated regrouping points to ensure the group stays together.
- Trail Run: A faster-paced option covering more miles, following a self-paced format with a pre-defined route plan.
The event is designed for all ages and typically lasts approximately three hours. Free parking is available at the location. Registered participants receive specific details regarding the trailhead, parking, exact route distance, and elevation profiles prior to each scheduled meetup. Recommended gear includes water, sturdy footwear, clothing layers, and sun protection. As an outdoor event, routes are subject to change based on current weather and trail conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
