Event overview

The Redwood (Summer) Trail Run takes place on August 15, 2026 in Oakland, CA, at the Chabot Space & Science Center annex lot (10000 Skyline Blvd., Oakland, CA 94619). The event offers multiple race distances, a free Kid's Run for children 6 years and younger, and a Coastal Testing category. Parking at the venue is free. T-shirts are given to pre-registered runners and all finishers receive a custom medal; 50K finishers also receive a custom coaster. Overall top three male and female finishers at each distance receive awards and race credits ($50, $35, $20). Age-group medals are awarded to the top three in each age and gender category.

Course and logistics

The course runs through Redwood Regional Park using East Ridge, West Ridge, Stream, and Bridle trails. The route is marked with ribbon about every 200 yards and uses color-coded loops; polka-dot flagging marks turns and blue ribbons mark the wrong way. Aid stations are fully stocked every 5-6 miles with fresh fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink; runners are advised to carry at least 20 oz. of water between stations. The event is cupless - participants should bring their own fluid containment; a limited number of disposable cups may be available on request. Drop bags are allowed for the 30K, Marathon, and 50K at the Start/Finish. Headphones are permitted on dirt road sections only and are prohibited on single-track, when crossing paved roads, at aid stations, or while crossing the finish line.
