The event offers two distances:

  • Half Marathon (two loops around Angel Island)
  • 10K (single loop around Angel Island)

The course is a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County. The half marathon requires completing the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes and has a course cut off of 3.5 hours; corresponding pace limits are specified for both distances. Hikers and walkers are permitted in the 10K.

Race pricing includes the ferry fee and processing charges. Athletes must take a special chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock to participate; ferries return from Angel Island to Tiburon every hour at 20 minutes past the hour. Spectator ferry fares are listed for various age groups and for bikes. Parking is available in Tiburon lots with typical fees from $5 to $20 per day.

There are no aid stations on the course except for aid provided before the second loop for half marathoners; participants are advised to carry water. T shirts are provided to all participants. Medals are awarded to all half marathon finishers and personalized award ribbons for top three finishers by gender in each age group are mailed after the event. Bib numbers are mailed to participants; unreceived bibs may be picked up at the ferry dock on race morning. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed on narrow trail sections for safety.
