Mount Cheaha 50K : Delta, Alabama

The Mount Cheaha 50K is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon that finishes at the summit area of Cheaha State Park, the highest point in Alabama at 2,407 feet. The course follows mostly single-track trails on the Pinhoti Trail, Skyway Trail, and Silent Trail through Talladega National Forest and features scenic overlooks, creek crossings, lakes, waterfalls, and hardwood and pine forests. Approximately 80% of the route is on single-track trail.

The race includes six staffed aid stations at the following locations and mile markers: Chandler Springs (3.3 miles, water only), Clairmont (8.5 miles), Adams Gap (14.8 miles), Hubbard Creek (18.8 miles), Silent Trail (25.8 miles), and Cheaha Lake (28.5 miles, water only); the finish is at 31.6 miles. A time limit applies; the organizer provides a mileage and cut-off times chart.

Logistics provided by the organizer include packet pickup at a downtown Anniston location and at the Porters Gap Trailhead on race morning. Bus transport to the start is available for a fee. Crew vehicle passes for Cheaha State Park must be paid in advance and have set fees by age category; race staff request cash for those passes. There are rules prohibiting strollers, animals, bicycles, and unentered runners on course. Awards are given to top overall and age-category finishers and all finishers receive a medal. Results are posted online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
