Mount Cheaha 50K

The Mount Cheaha 50K is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon in Delta, Alabama. The course finishes at Cheaha State Park on the summit of Cheaha Mountain, which reaches 2,407 feet. About 80% of the route follows single-track trails on the Pinhoti Trail, Skyway Trail, and Silent Trail through the Talladega National Forest. Runners pass scenic overlooks, creek crossings, lakes, waterfalls, and hardwood and pine forests. This edition is the 21st annual running of the event.

Course, logistics and rules

The race distance is 50K and the published time limit is 9 hours 30 minutes. There are six aid stations at the following mileages: Chandler Springs (3.3 miles, water only), Clairmont (8.5 miles), Adams Gap (14.8 miles), Hubbard Creek (18.8 miles), Silent Trail (25.8 miles, water only), and Cheaha Lake (28.5 miles); the finish is at 31.6 miles on the course map. Packet pickup is available the day before the race in Anniston and on race morning at the Porters Gap Trailhead. Bus transportation from Cheaha State Park overflow parking is available for a fee. Parking at the Porters Gap start is limited; parking attendants will assist on race morning. Crew passes for Cheaha State Park must be purchased in advance; listed fees apply by age group and military status. The organizer states there are no refunds, no race-day registration, no entry transfers, and no deferrals. Strollers, animals, bicycles, and unentered runners are not allowed on course; pets should be kept at least 50 feet from aid stations and start/finish areas.
