McClellan Madness takes place on March 7, 2026 in Anniston, Alabama, at the McClellan Bike Trails, 460 Brigadier D H Stem Ave. The event marks the race's fifth anniversary. The course will be run counter clockwise in 2026; previous years used a clockwise direction. The event offers both 4-hour and 8-hour timed options.

Distances

  • 4-hour event - complete four loops for 25k.
  • 8-hour event - complete eight loops for 50k.

Course and aid

The race uses a single-track loop of 4.1 miles with a few rocks; it is described as not technical. Elevation is approximately 300 feet per loop. The start and finish are at the McClellan bike trailhead. There will be a self-serve full aid station at the start/finish and staffed service for water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind. Grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese will be available. Participants may set up a personal aid station at the start/finish, at their car, on the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.

Perks, awards and policies

Each runner receives a soft t-shirt if registered by February 3. Awards will go to the male and female who cover the longest distance in each timed category. There are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers are permitted.

Safety note

Trail runs nearby

Tackle the Mount Cheaha 50K, a point to point trail ultramarathon finishing atop Cheaha Mountain with sweeping overlooks. Run mostly single track through waterfalls, creeks and hardwood forests on the scenic Pinhoti and Skyway trails.

Take on rugged Southern trails with 100 or 200 mile ultramarathons across Georgia and Alabama from March 18 to 22, 2026. Expect remote terrain, mandatory navigation gear and a gender specific technical shirt included.

Run Chief Ladiga in Jacksonville, Alabama on April 11, 2026 with 100 miles, 50 miles, 50K or a half marathon on scenic paved trail and well spaced aid stations. All entrants get a shirt and finishers receive a buckle or medal.

Run the scenic Pinhoti Trail at Rockin Choccolocco in Heflin, AL with 50K, 25K, 10K and a Kids Fun Run, all finishing at Cahulga Creek Park. Expect rugged single track, aid stations, finisher medals and a friendly festival vibe.
