McClellan Madness
McClellan Madness is a timed trail running event at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama, organized by Dirty Soles Trail Races. The event is run on a single-track loop that starts and ends at the McClellan bike trailhead, 460 Brigadier D H Stem, Anniston, AL 36205.
The trail loop is 4.1 mile long, runnable with a few rocks and not technical. Elevation gain is approximately 300 feet per loop. The event offers two time-based race options:
- 4hr
- 8hr
Aid and crew access include a self-serve full aid station at the start/finish that will be kept stocked, with vegan options available on request. Organizers will grill grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese. A manned station will serve water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind. Participants may set up their own aid at the start/finish, at their car, on the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.
Each entrant receives a soft t-shirt; the deadline for shirt orders is February 3. Awards are given to the top female and top male for each distance based on the longest distance covered. Distance challenge awards are planned for completing four loops (25k) in the 4 hour option and eight loops (50k) in the 8 hour option.
Packet pickup is available on race day only. There are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers may be arranged through the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
