McClellan Madness - Anniston, AL
McClellan Madness is a timed trail event held at the McClellan Bike Trails in Anniston, Alabama. The event offers two formats: 4hr and 8hr, run on a 4.1 mile single track loop that is generally runnable with a few rocks. Each loop has approximately 300 feet of elevation gain.
The course starts and finishes at the McClellan bike trailhead. A self serve aid station at the start/finish will be kept stocked with snacks, and there will be manned beverage stations offering water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind. Grilled cheese and a vegan grilled cheese option will be available. Participants may set up their own aid station at the start/finish, at their vehicle, on the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.
Perks include a soft t shirt for each runner, with a shirt order deadline of February 3rd that may affect late registrants. Awards will be given to the male and female runners who cover the greatest distance in each format. Additional distance awards are offered for completing four loops in the 4hr format (25k) and eight loops in the 8hr format (50k).
The race is organized by Dirty Soles Trail Races. The former Fort McClellan site may contain ordnance or land mines, so participants should avoid leaving the marked trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
