McClellan Madness

McClellan Madness is a timed trail-running event held at the McClellan Bike Trails in Anniston, Alabama. The course is a 4.1-mile single-track loop that is generally runnable with a few rocks and is not technical. Elevation per loop is approximately 300 feet.

Distances and formats:

  • 4-hour timed event
  • 8-hour timed event

The event starts and ends at the McClellan bike trailhead, address 460 Brigadier D H Stem, Anniston, AL 36205. Organizers note that ordnance or land mines may remain on the former fort grounds; participants are advised to remain on marked trails.

Aid is provided at a self-serve, full aid station at the start/finish with snack options and vegan options on request. Grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese will be available. Organizers will also serve water, Coke, ginger ale, and Tailwind. Participants may set up personal aid stations at the start/finish, at their vehicle, on the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.

Each runner receives a soft t-shirt if registered by February 3; registrations after that date will most likely not receive a shirt. Awards will be given to the male and female who go the farthest in each timed event. Special awards are available for completing four loops (about 25k) in the 4-hour event and eight loops (about 50k) in the 8-hour event.

Packet pickup is race day only, from 6:00 AM to 6:50 AM. There are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers may be arranged by contacting the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
