About the Event

McClellan Madness is a timed trail run on a 4.1-mile loop at the former Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. This is the event's fifth anniversary. The 2026 edition will be run counter-clockwise.

Course Details

The single-track trail is described as runnable with a few rocks but not technical. Each loop has approximately 300 feet of elevation gain. Participants are cautioned not to stray off the trail.

Distances and Schedule

The event offers two timed distances:

  • 8 hours
  • 4 hours

A special award is offered for completing a certain number of loops within the time limit: four loops (approximately 25k) in the 4-hour event, and eight loops (approximately 50k) in the 8-hour event. The overall male and female runner covering the longest distance in each event also receives an award.

Aid and Amenities

A self-serve aid station at the start/finish area will be stocked with snacks, including vegan options. Grilled cheese sandwiches (regular and vegan) will be prepared. Water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and Tailwind will be served. Participants may set up their own aid stations. This is a cupless event.

Registration Includes

All registered runners receive a soft t-shirt. The deadline to guarantee a shirt is February 3rd; registrations after that date may not receive one.
