McClellan Madness

McClellan Madness is a timed trail running event held at the McClellan Bike Trails in Anniston, Alabama. The event starts and finishes at the McClellan bike trailhead, located at 460 Brigadier D H Stem Ave.

The course is a 4.1 mile single track loop that is generally runnable with a few rocks and is not highly technical. Elevation change is approximately 300 feet per loop.

Distances and goals:

  • 4 hour Complete four loops for about 25k and receive a special award.
  • 8 hour Complete eight loops for about 50k and receive a special award.

Aid and on-course services include a self serve full aid station at the start/finish stocked with snacks and vegan options, and staffed stations providing water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind. Organizers will also prepare grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese. Participants may set up their own aid at the start/finish, at their vehicle, in the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.

Each runner will receive a soft t shirt if registered by February 3. Packet pickup is available on race day only from 6:00 AM to 6:50 AM. There are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers can be arranged by contacting the organizer.

The venue is on the grounds of the former Fort McClellan. Runners are advised to stay on marked trails due to reported ordnance and safety concerns. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
