Rockin Choccolocco 50K - 25K - 10K
The Rockin Choccolocco event takes place in Heflin, Alabama, featuring trail races primarily located within the Talladega National Forest. The event utilizes the Pinhoti Trail, offering a course consisting of 95% single-track trails through hardwood and pine forests, past lakes, and across various creeks.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 50 km point-to-point race starting at Greenleaf Dam and finishing at Cahulga Creek Park.
- 25 km lollipop-style course starting and finishing at Cahulga Creek Park.
- 10 km out-and-back course starting and finishing at Cahulga Creek Park.
- Kids Fun Run held at Cahulga Creek Park.
The 50 km course includes scenic overlooks and follows the Pinhoti Trail before connecting to the Heflin Spur for the final two miles. The 25 km route traverses the Heflin Spur to the Shoal Creek Trailhead and continues to High Rock before returning. The 10 km route follows the Heflin Spur through the Shoal Creek Trailhead onto the Pinhoti Trail for a designated distance before turning back.
Aid stations are positioned along the routes, providing support at various intervals such as Pine Glenn and High Rock. For the 50 km event, bus transportation from the finish area at Cahulga Creek Park to the starting line is available for a fee. Primitive camping is permitted at Cahulga Creek Park with a donation, and restrooms are available at the start and finish areas of all races.
