Moose Mountain Trail Races : West Bragg Creek, AB

The Moose Mountain Trail Races, organized by Lewiston Ultra Events, is presented as Alberta’s oldest sanctioned trail race. The event offers four solo mountain trail distances: 16 km, 29 km, 42 km, and 50 km. The course starts and finishes at the West Bragg Creek recreational day-use area and follows a network of community-built trails in the Kananaskis area totaling over 150 km.

The route rises from rolling prairie into the foothills and uses a mix of single track and double track. Moose Mountain, listed at about 8,000 feet, is a notable landmark on the course. Each distance has specific elevation gain and aid station locations; for example, the 16 km race includes an aid station at 8 km, while longer distances have multiple aid stations and intermediate cutoffs at designated aid points. Cutoff rules may redirect runners to the finish or change their official distance placement.

Registration costs 145 CAD plus GST and platform fees. Participants must be at least 18 years old. American Express and Discovery cards are not accepted. There are no refunds and no waitlist. Bib transfers are allowed except for transferring into the 50 km event; 50 km bib holders may transfer out. Transfers are permitted until August 10, 2026 for a 20 CAD administration fee. Registration closes August 10, 2026 or when the race fills. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
