The 18th Montvale Trail Races take place on February 28, 2026 at Montvale Park in Bedford County. The event offers on-site distances and virtual options: 5 miles and 8.4 miles, with a virtual entry priced at $25 for either distance. Registration opens December 18 at noon and fees increase in stages through February.

Montvale Park features a 6.5 mile trail system that winds through old growth forest. The on-site 5 mile course is measured at approximately 5 miles by bike odometer (GPS typically reads around 4.5). The 8.4 mile course measures about 8.4 miles by bike odometer (GPS typically reads around 7.75) and includes a water stop at the gravel parking lot. Runners will be staged under the park pavilions and the course uses creek crossings near the pavilion for the finish. The event is capped at 225 runners because of limited parking.

Awards are given to the top three male and female overall and first place male and female masters for each race, plus medals for the top three in 13 male and female age groups. Age brackets include 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and up.

Race rules note that dogs are not permitted, race numbers must be visible on the front, amplified music is not allowed on course or at start and finish areas, and participants must follow marked trails and be courteous when passing.
