Montvale Trail Races

Montvale 5 & 8.4 Mile Trail Races

The Montvale Trail Races take place on February 28, 2026 at Montvale Park in Bedford County, Virginia. The event is limited to 225 runners because of the park and parking capacity. Montvale Park is a 6.5 mile trail system that passes through old growth forest and has limited vehicle parking; an alternate park access exists off Quarterwood Road.

Available race options include:

• 5 Mile trail race
• 8.4 Mile one lap trail race
• Virtual options for both distances

Both courses run in a clockwise direction and finish at the park pavilion after crossing the creek. The 5 Mile course is measured at approximately 5 miles by bike odometer with GPS readings near 4.5 miles. The 8.4 Mile course measures about 8.4 miles by bike odometer with GPS readings near 7.75 miles and includes a water stop at the gravel parking lot.

Packet pickup is offered at two nearby locations prior to race day and at Montvale Park on the event day; pickup locations are listed by the organizer. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to first place masters, with medals for the top three in 13 age groups from 14 and under through 70 and up.

Race rules note that dogs are not permitted, race numbers must be visible on the front, amplified music or Bluetooth speakers are not allowed on the course, and runners should follow marked trails and be courteous when passing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
